Who is this for?
The Monmouth/Independence YMCA offers after-school licensed child care for those children in Kindergarten 5th grades in the local Central School District . When school is out, the Y kicks into high gear offering quality and safe childcare for our community. During the summer, childcare (which is called Day Camp) is offered full time from as early as 7am to 6pm, daily.
Where is the program site?
There are four sites offered which are:
- Monmouth Elementary
- Ash Creek Elementary
- Henry Hill Elementary
- Independence Elementary
Children attend the after-school enrichment care at the school they attend.
Is transportation provided?
There is no transportation provided directly after-school as your child would directly come to the program. There will be transportation when the program ends as school buses will transport children home. Please ask us on the specifics such as bus routes and pick up and drop off after the program ends. There is no transportation pick up or drop off on in-service and holiday care.
What do they do?
YMCA School-age care provides a unique balance of fun, learning and physical development through planned, safe activities set to weekly themes. The kids engage in activities such as; homework, tutoring needs, games, and arts & crafts.
Organized and structured learning stations meet each child’s growing talents and needs like: Super Structors, Drama Zone, Colossal Creation, WordWorlds of Wonder, Communication Stations, Brain Twisters, Kids Zumba (Latin Dance), Youth Sports and much more.
When is care provided?
Care is provided daily during the school year: Mondays 1:45 to 6pm and Tuesday through Fridays 2:45 to 6:00 pm. Care is also provided during half and full in-service school days. Care is also provided on holidays and school breaks at an additional cost, provided enough children sign-up.
Summer Child Care:
Summer child care starts the Monday after Central School District school year ends. Care is provided five days a week from 7am to 6pm. The summer program operates differently by many local and out-of-town field trips and special weekly-themed projects.
