Youth Gymnastics (For kids ages 3-12)
YMCA Gymnastics offers stimulating group activities designed to turn movement into learning while helping children develop self-esteem, coordination and social skills that is necessary to grow. Structured safe and imaginative activities provide group interaction and teamwork, encourage new friendships and support social development, listening skills and gymnastics skills.
Classes offered and what is taught:
Preschool Class:
For ages 3-5 years. Basic tumbling and balancing movements, forward rolls with the springboard, walking on the beam and use of the bars.
Level 1 Classes:
Will have some prior knowledge of the basics. Students will learn handstands, cartwheels, use of springboard to get on the vault, circle variations on bars and rolls on a low beam.
Level 2 Classes:
Advanced tumbling and balancing movements. Backbends and walkovers on the floor. High beam with some tumbling. Advanced front and back circles on the bars. Running to the springboard to do variations with the vault.
Times offered:
- Preschool Class: 4pm to 4:30pm (often times we offer a 3:30pm to 4pm class)
- Level 1 Class: 4:30 pm to 5:30pm
- Level 2 Class: 5:30pm to 6:30pm
