Program Information:
Novice Swim Team Practice
- Swim team practice for younger and/or newer swimmers on the team.
- Practice times:
- Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 5:00 – 6:00 pm
- Cost:$40/month Y member, $65/month non-member
- Annual $57 USA Athlete Registration fee is also required.
Intermediate/Advanced Swim Team Practice
- Swim team practice for the teen or more experienced swimmers on the team.
- Times available:
- Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 3:30 – 5:00 pm
- Cost: $50/month Y member, $75/month non-member
- Annual $57 USA Athlete Registration fee is also required.
If you like to swim and would like to make new friends while exercising and improving your swimming skills then the Salem YMCA Sharks is the team for you!
This YMCA program is available to swimmers age six and up. Workouts include drills, technique instruction and conditioning.
There are no tryouts, but there is a prerequisite of being able to swim 80 yards front crawl with rotary (side) breathing and 80 yards I.M. (20 yards each of butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle).
This is a year around program that promotes the YMCA philosophy of building a healthy mind, spirit and body. The objectives of the program are to develop an individual’s confidence and self-esteem while continuing their swimming education and knowledge about aquatics
Swimmers may choose to compete only in YMCA meets, or in both YMCA and U.S.A Swim Meets. An annual registration fee of $57 with U.S.A. Swimming is required for the individual swimmer, in addition to monthly Swim Team dues. Swimmers who are interested in competing in YMCA meets and advancing to compete at the YMCA Regional Level must be YMCA members.
YMCA Swim Meets are generally held on Saturday mornings, and U.S.A. meets are generally two day meets where swimmers may swim on Saturday and/or Sunday. Competition is encouraged, but is not a requirement.
Dues are paid monthly and are due no later than the 5th of the month. Swimmers are requested to sign up for EZ Pay, which automatically pays dues monthly. The first practice for a new swimmer is free.
