Silver Falls Family YMCA at the Silverton Community Pool

Important Information

The Silverton Community Pool is staffed by friendly, certified lifeguards and experienced instructors who teach lessons using the YMCA of the USA’s Swim Lesson Guidelines.  We are open year-round and keep our water temperature at a comfortable 84-85 degrees!  In addition, our pools are home to a wide variety of aqua-fitness classes, open/family swim times, lap swimming, and adult and youth swimming lessons.  Pool amenities include full ADA access, diving board, and a separate children’s pool with a zero-depth entry.

Programs We Offer:

Fitness/Therapy Classesphoto

We offer fitness/therapy classes to suit the needs of our community.   Aqua Fitness classes provide moderate-difficult and low-impact workouts.  Stretch & Tone classes provide a slower pace with an Arthritis-Certified instructor.

Our current classes are: Aquasize (workouts change daily), Stretch & Tone, Aqua Zen (Tai Chi in the water), Aqua Fit.

Swim Lessons

Registration for April Swim Lessons is open! They start on March 31st (for M/W lessons) and April 1st (for T/TH lessons) and run through the 24th. Please call (503.873.6456) or stop by the pool to sign up.

Youth swim lessons are offered in four-week (two lessons per week) sessions.  During the Summer we also offer two-week sessions with lessons held Monday-Thursday.  We offer a variety of options to meet the needs of all ages and abilities.

Parent /Child Lessons

Parent/Child is the YMCA of the USA program for young children ages 6 months to 3 years and their parents.  Instructors are caring and enthusiastic, placing an emphasis on safety, water adjustments, movement, exploration, songs, games, and fun!  An adult accompanies each child into the pool.

Pike, Eel, Ray, Starfish (PERS) is the YMCA of the USA’s program for 3 to 5 year-olds.  Children advance through the four levels, then move up to Progressive Lessons.  The teacher/student ratio is 1:5 or better.

Progressive Lessons

This program is for 6 to 14 year-olds of all swimming abilities.  Children progress through six levels:  Polliwog, Guppy, Minnow, Fish, Flying Fish, and Shark.  The Teacher/Student ratio is 1:7 or better.

Private Lessons

Get one-on-one instruction with one of our experienced instructors. A minimum of 4 lessons must be purchased.  Offered in four 30 minute sessions or two 1 hour sessions.  Ages 3 – Adult.  Semi-private lessons are also available.

Swim Teams

We are home to the Silverton High School Swim Team, whose season runs through the winter. We also welcome area Swim Clubs.

The Silver Falls Family YMCA Pool is excited to offer Year-Round Swim Team!  We are committed to keeping our kids fit & having fun throughout the school year.  Whether you are new to swim team or a long time participant, our program is created to fit around your child’s needs.  High School swimmers will also find this program to be beneficial for getting in shape prior to swim season, as well as ongoing maintenance throughout the year.

Kayak Fridays

In case you haven’t heard, Fridays = Kayak days! Bring your kayak down to the Silverton Community Pool on Fridays between 5-6 pm and learn the basics or get help mastering your rolling skills! All skill levels welcome. Must supply your own kayak.  Members: $10, Potential Members: $15. Please call 503-873-6456 to register.  Must pre-register to ensure a spot in the class.

Red Cross Lifeguard & WSI Certification Classes
